Looking Forward to 21st Century Learning in H.K.

Tech conferences have a real buzz about them these days. I think people have been talking about technology changing education for years, but now they actually believe it. Anybody who went to Learning 2.0 in Shanghai will know exactly what I mean. I am looking forward to being inspired and sharing my enthusiasm for fully connected learning communities. I will be moving to Hong Kong to work at ESF in August, so please come up and say Hi or just… Continue

Hi Paul.

Nice meeting you on Saturday during your presentation. it was very informative - particularly the use of multimedia for the learning of languages.

I have been using (and incorporating) multimedia for many years now..have been teaching it to Primary students at my former school. It has been a fun ride, and I am very passionate about multimedia (as well as ICT). I am looking forward to bringing this knowledge and passion to my new school (DBS Primary) in September, and providing those students with a fresh and exciting learning experience.

One of my hobbies is video editing, and therefore I am quite adept at using video editing packages (Windows Movie Maker and Premiere Pro CS3). Students find the video aspect quite attractive, as the sky is the limit to what they can achieve.

I have taught students how to edit YouTube videos through Movie Maker, and this became a sensation. We used RealPlayer 11 Basic (www.realplayer.com.au) to rip videos off YouTube, and WinFF (www.winff.org) to convert FLV files to a Movie Maker-compatible format (usually WMV or MPG).

Thanks again for a great session. I'll be in touch!

Always like to visit HK .... so would, of course, be happy to come over next year if invited.

Have been invited by the Shanghai guys to look at the possiblity of a S.L. support event(s) for the Sept.Conf. .... am hoping this will actually develop into a twice monthly 'speakers' series in S.L. ... Asia time.

If this happens then there is potential for synergy between conferences which I suspect would be beneficial all round .. and building up a sustainable Asia network.

But no decisions yet .... will keep you informed.

Int.Schs.Island has come on a LONG way since the Bangkok ISTE session.

P.S. How's married life .... are you an expectant dad yet ;-)

Have fun.

Hi Paul,
Can you let me know how to edit the page to put in the information about the sessions I am presenting. I can't locate any 'edit' functions anywhere on the page. Thanks
Dianne
