The question is what is 21st pedagogy?. I hear lots of claims but when I talk to teachers who use new technologies pedagogy was the main motive for adoption of technology!

Hi Peter,
Well, we missed sailing with you. That would have been fun. We will have to do that next time. We are back into the fray here. I am excited to show my colleagues what you have been doing in your classes. I particularly like the voice thread idea for book reviews. It is funny that your students are reading the same books mine are, more or less. It does speak to international education or just being in Grade 4 anywhere in the world. Roald Dahl speaks to them all. Todd and I may well be back for another look at Hong Kong schools in the next few months. We were quite impressed with the school and the city. I had more time to look around then I did at the last conference. I should run, but it was great to see you. If you are in Singapore, do let us know.
Cheers, Maureen

Hi again,
Todd and I are in town until Monday morning. We would love to hook up with you before we leave. Might you be interested in lunch or dinner Sunday evening? We have cell phones here and gmail addresses. Where was that place that we all explored the last time I was in town for PD? It was a neat little once-upon-a-time-fishing vilage-now a way too cool expat enclave. I remember too much beer and my first introduction (from you) to Photostory. We would really love to see you. Do let us know, one way or another. I am at marnold@cis.edu.sg . My cell number is a Singapore listing. +65 98229336. Cheers, Maureen (and Todd)

Hi Peter,
It was nice to see you again and hear about all you are doing with your students. I have walked away with lots to think about, somethings to start experimenting with and even more questions. I will likely be knocking on your door with some of those questions when I have done a little more exploring. Thanks again for your inspiration!
Cheers,
Maureen

I'm the ESF ICT Adviser - at least till August 2008 and then I'm handing over the torch to Paul White. There is some great innovative work going on with Learning Technology across the whole education community in Hong Kong and I hope this conference will be the first of many events where we can all get together to celebrate and share our practice

Trick Question!

What is the longest distance in the world?

"The longest distance in this world is the distance between an official state curriculum policy and and what goes on in a child's' mind"
Prof James MacBeath
Cambridge University

I enjoy using this quote in presentations ( thanks to a colleague in the Education Bureau) because it sums up the challenge of the conference. How do we bridge the gap between our aspirations for technology and what actually goes on in the classroom?.
