Discovering Second Life - Dianne McKenzie

Second life has been around for about 4 years, with around 50,000 participants online at any one time. What is this online community? What can you get out of it and what uses does it have for education?

This overview of second life will take you on a brief tour of what it is, why it is so successful and what it can mean for professional development and even education in the classroom.

I will be recording the session using Audacity, and Snapz Pro.

Chris Smith from Shambles will be taking us on a real time tour of his island International Schools Island in Second life. This will be recorded and uploaded as a quicktime movie.

We've had a unit on Avatar Design, and now we're starting Vehicles.

I'd like to do a unit on Architecture. Can you recommend a free / cheap place where I can have a class build structures for 10 months?
