Disposing of Obsolete Computers Appropriately

I was contacted by a school today who have computing equipment that has come to the end of its useful life for the school.
Like all of us, the teachers are concerned that this equipment does not end up in Landfill if there are more appropriate ways to handle disposal. I am aware of charities like Crossroads that take some of these but I, probably like the rest of you, have seen shows about the First World junk that ends up on scrap piles in developing countries.
Is there anyone reading this who knows of a good programme for disposal of school computers which I could share with the network?
Thanks,
Paul

Crossroads takes anything from computers to furniture and ship them to third world countries. Unfortunately they don;t offer pick up service since last time I check. Specifically for computers there are 2 more suitable programs.

The charity group "Caritas" organizes a computer recycle projects. They refurbish donated equipment and offers them to low income families at little to no cost. In the process, the program train teenagers in hardware support. This program is sponsored by Environment Protection Department and receives praise from environmentalist. Visit their website to find out more. http://www.ccw.org.hk/english/

"Jardine One Solution" offers a donation scheme called "JOS Computer Recycling & Donation Program". They will come to your door to pick up your equipment free of charge. I have use this service before. Tel: 2590-9090

Salvation army does the same as cross roads, but has a special digital recycle section.
